Starting Over

It's Time to Start Over

I've been feeling overwhelmed by my life. A combination of the things I want to do, and the things I need to do. I have responsibilities and goals, but haven't been paying attention to either. Instead I've been playing video games and coasting along. In an effort to keep myself honest, I've cleared all the old posts on this blog, and I'm going to use it in the original form of a blog, as a journal. Before I can begin to fix things, I must first get clear on what I'm trying to do. I need to list, the things I need to do (areas of responsibility) and the things I want to do (areas of interest).

Areas of Responsibility

This includes a number of things, but boils down to three: my job, my family, and myself.

My Job

I need to focus when I'm at work on learning how to improve the quality of my work. I need to take better notes and focus on accuracy of my work.  I also need to try not to talk so much about things that are not work related.

My Family

This is a little more involved. There are things I need to do for each of my family members. I need to develop a list of things to help my wife and each of my sons with. I need to call my parents more, plus my brother and sister. And there are others that are practically family that I help.

Myself

There are a number of things I need to do for myself, too. I must lose weight.  I must continue to educate myself.  I write more as it helps me focus.

Areas of Interest

I have a number of areas of interest, but need to trim them down.  I have play games both alone and with friends.  I want to become a voice of reason in politics.  I want to become a financial adviser and help people retire with dignity.

All this is just the start, what I can think of off the top of my head.  Now I need to translate it into a list of projects followed by next actions.
